As soon as the clocks long hand struck on the dot of 9:26am our
school siren rang. We quickly went drop under our desks.
As I dropped under my desk, it kind of reminded me about the people of Christchurch and how they had to suffer through those bad, horrible earthquakes. People thought it was a joke. I’m guessing if we had an earthquake they wouldn’t actually be laughing and thinking that it is a big joke.
As I went under my desk, I wasn’t comfortable where I was. But something popped into head and reminded me that we were doing this to see how it feels to be in an earthquake. I’m guessing that it would be absolutely horrible if I ever experienced an earthquake.
I feel devastated about what Christchurch residents had to suffer through. I don’t know how it feels but sooner or later I might experience what Christchurch residents have had to go through.
Looking at people who think its a joke breaks my heart. The moment that an earthquake really strikes that smile won’t be on their face any more. The laughing and mocking mostly came from silly, stupid kids.
In conclusion I strongly think that Christchurch residents now don’t have a proper life because of what has happened. People also have to think before saying horrible things about earthquakes. Lastly if you think its a joke think harder before you make things worse for yourself.
The moral of this story is that earthquakes are not a joke, it is a real life experience so listen and be sensible if you have an earthquake drill it may just save your life.

Hi Celia, you are right. Earthquakes are definitely not a joke at all. But you show that you are very sympathetic towards the people of christchurch. Your writing shows that you have a very good understanding of the impact an earthquake can make on a city, or an entire nation.
Wow! Thank you so much. You make me feel really proud of myself Krissy.
